Dear Archie and others,

I am already past 20 weeks gestation, yet i do not feel any fetal movements, although the ultrasound scan showed fetal movements.

How do I identify the fetal movements? Where will I feel the fetal movements ...upper/
lower abdomen, below the navel....where exactly?
I never felt butterflies in the stomach and i do not understand what it means.

Is it because it is my first pregnancy that i am not yet feeling it? When will I then feel it?

As per my doc, the first movements are felt anytime till the 22nd week and regularly thereafter. I have just completed 21 weeks and have been feeling the movements since one week only. Even I didnt know what to look out for earlier..but now I know.

It started with a light gassy type of feeling, a bit similar to hunger pangs and I felt it in my lower abdomen for the first 2 days. Now, I feel it around my navel area as well as abdomen. Usually you will feel it after a meal when you sit down or lie down quietly. Then try to feel it..its like a gently tapping on the hand. Very subtle...
