Hi Anu and all Moms who intend to store breast milk,

Do you intend to store it in the plastic packet containers or in bottles? I did read somewhere that you are supposed to use only a max of 3 day stored milk...I dont know if there is any truth in this. Please let me know if you have any info on this.

Hi Suni,
Yes you can warm breast milk in a bottle warmer on a low setting, after it is thawed. I just let it sit in a bowl of warm water. I didn't like the bottle warmer, didn't seem to work well for me.

Hi Suni,

I dont know where u read that u can use the stored milk within 3 days, it is absolutely wrong. If ur keeping the breast milk at room temperature u have to use it within 7-8 hrs.If the milk is stored in the fridge then u can use it in 1 weeks time and if the milk is stored in the freezer u can use it within 6 mths. And i hope u know that after u thaw the milk u should not store it in, u have to use it that day itself. And also u should not microwave the breast milk, since nutrients will be lost and also it wont be heated uniformly.
About storing the milk in plastic packets or bottles.I prefer bottles, since it will be easier and less time consuming(since u have to change the milk from the plastic packets to bottles etc).I hope this helps.
How did your u/s go, hope everything is fine.

Take care,
Sumana.

Hi Radhika and Sumana,

Thank You So Much for the pointers...I read the site, but have one more question. After the milk is thawed, can we use a bottle warmer to warm the milk?
