Good to hear that Santosh likes rice cereal. Diya likes it too. I am going to start her now with barley/oatmeal. My parents live in Annanagar. I went to school at Univ of Illinois at Chicago and my major was EE too. I was there from 98 to 2000. Are you planning to go to India soon. I am thinking about going in Oct or Nov too.
Diya chews on me when she is done or when she is not interested, with her sharp teeth and it kills me. I tell her to stop and she smiles at me as though she has heard the biggest joke:) It is really making me think twice about BFing now.
I feel very tired these days too. It is almost worse than the first few months. You will think that this should get better right. I can't even wait for Diya to crawl and how I am going to manage her at that time. I read that you are mowing and vaccuming a lot. Take it easy. You can do those when you recover fully.
What do you do to occupy Santhosh when he is awake. I am running out of options now to make Diya happy. She wants to talk to me all the time or look at me. If you like any specific toys, let me know.

Vidya Tweetie replied. Nice to hear from you. Read your message about ur fun trip to Paris (well 80+ degrees with no A/C is not fun though!!) I can imagine the amount of chellam little diya would have got from her grandparents...so how did diya like the flight journey? I aways am concerned about how I will manage when I have to travel with Santhosh alone to india...I too am thinking about sept/oct time frame. Won't it be cool if we both get to travel together with our little ones? Let's see. If i am right u like in Cal isn't it? Where in Cal? I used to live and work in San Jose before I got married and then had to relocate. i really loved that place. how long Did u work after finishing ur EE? With this economy and with a little baby, I don't know when I will kick start my career and put to use some of the time spent studying for those degrees.
So did Diya's teeth pop out fully? Hope u didn't have too tough a time with her teething...Good that she likes hr cereal. my doc has told me to stick on with just one type of cereal, as far as possible, because he says oatmeal has glutein which might not agree with soem kids...and he says nutritionally BM is more than enough. Anyway there is enough pressure from elders about starting solid food, and I feel Rice cereal is a good compromise.
Yeah, I know I should slow, rather my body refuses to co-operate at times...but sometimes I get so irritated asking and waiting for others to do it, as everyone seems tired or more inerested in taking care of the baby....oh well, so i start the other heavy duty stuff, and hey it gets others to realize that they shouldn't be letting me do it, and then they do it (or atleast say they'll do it). Also, my back has some problem, and after preg it got a little bad, so saw a doc for that and got to take some care and follow some instructions for that.
While Santhosh is awake, I sometimes put him under his musical gym which he likes to watch, if he wants a change I put him on his changing table, which is near a wall where I have pinned some bright soloured soft toys, in a way that it'll look like they are facing him...he likes to 'talk' to them, or I put him in his crib with his mobile turned on...and my mom found this neat thing to keep him occupied...he likes coloured papers(any magazine/sunday papers, which have a crinkly sound) so I pin it to the crib mobile and it goes round along with the toys and he tries to catch it. He also likes to crush the paper and play with it...We have ceiling fans in some rooms with this long chain to turn on the light and we tie some toys or anything colourful to that and he likes to see that...Well I have almost completed all that i usually do to keep him occupied...Ahh, i forgot, he likes this one particular toy...his musical ducky by baby Einstein...he smiles just seeing the toy!!
