Hi Archie,
I m back with this new problem now.I wud be very grateful if u cud reply me on this.
I had severe itching(no rashes)few days back & the blood tests reveal high levels of bile ....so my Doc told me i suffer from cholestasis of liver.
I really got nervous when she told me it cud be a sign of preterm labour & suggested i shud go for a CTG scan(for both of my babies). Is this scan safe?.Right now i m given antihistamine tablet. Is it dangerous for me and my babies?.I m really scared .....pliz guide me.
Thank you.
Regards,
Trups.

Dear Trups,
Let me assure that it's not surprising that Twins are under preterm risk, they often are preterm.

What week you are into?

No, it won't harm if you take antihistamine. However it will give a temporary relief. Cholestasis is less likely be treated, it will subside by itself after delivery in a few weeks.

I would recommend washing with normal soap and water and keep all area dry and clean, no ointments or creams unless prescribed.

If you are anywhere later week 28 then be assured that all is going to be OK. If it's less than week 28 then get scan done and know the risk of Preterm in your case.

I am looking forward to hear your updates.

Archie

Hi

I thought of replying cause I am now 12 weeks and I have a very itchy rash all over my tummy and back. I am on Anti-histhamine tablets (Benadryl-25mg) 3 tablets a day since 3 days, Its safe as my doctor is a high risk preg doc and said that he gives this to pregnant women suffering from any skin disorders. But do verify again with your doctor.

Take Care
Rashmi
