I just got back from my Dr. and told her about my troubles to get 6 week old son to latch on. He never did and I notice my milk supply is so low now even though I pump. She told me to try getting my normal bottle nipple and placing it over my own and that my son should take it that way and to gradually try to get him to use my real nipple over time. This way he gets milk and my supply should be stimulated from him sucking and eventually I can remove the bottle one. At first I am to feed him from the bottle nipple over my own and then give him the pumped milk or formula after to make sure he is satisfied. Eventually he will just take the breast. I hope it works, but just wanted to mention this incase anyone else in in my shoes and didnt think of this either or was never told. nandini replied. hi,

Hi,I have the same problem as u do and my baby is 2 months old now , but from day 1 he has refused to take my breast he will take the nipple sheild which u said is to be put on nipples , but still he prefers the bottle , coz he howls when we try to put him on breast. My quantity is fine because i keep on expressing every 3 hrs.this will help to improve your quantity of milk, i.e xpress every 3 hrs , like you are feeding your baby.Hope this helps. all the best!
