Hi
Hope all of u are doing fine..Anyone filled out the birth plan as yet? we will have an appointment next week, hoping we learn more in lamaze class this week but if u have any tips do let us know. All i can think of is specifying baby to be breastfed..still no clue about epidurals/etc..any other tip/questions we have to be prepared for?
if u have already gone thru' this process..and could give some additional info of what to expect would help us think over it too.
Have a nice weekend. bye
Thanks
Radhika

Hi Radhika,
Like you mentioned it is a plan and cahn be changed. You should put down what you plan on doing.eg) natural birth and no drugs/epidural. You can always change it if you feel you need it. You should discuss the plan with your Dr. Ask him/her about the effect epidural will have on your BP if you do decide to have it.
Having an epidural does not increase the recovery time and yes, labor might take longer. You don't feel the contractions in the sense that you don't feel the pain but you do feel an intense pressure. Plus you will be hooked up to a monitor that can tell when you are having contractions.

When I have my first son I hadn't planned on having an epidural athough I did not rule out the option either. I did end up having an epidural because my labor was very long as it took me a long time to dilate and I was very exhausted.
I think I will have an epidural this time too but if I can deal with the pain then I might not.

Don't be worried about deciding everything right now. You should make sure you know what your options are. If you are very particular about having a natural birth, ie) under no circumstance you want an epidural then you want to make it known to your Dr and husband.

Hope this helps.

Hi
Firstly welcome to the group. thanks for the info..About epidural hoping to just tell them i would like to try naturally for a few hours if possible, I can change my mind later with the pain. For every drug my answer would be the same unless my labour is induced or predecided its a c-section..till then i would like to try. I am not particular about one or the other, am open to natural/epidural if i go nuts with the pain..i only doubt i had was they should not say i didn't say i needed it before...if they are open to my changes in decisions i am fine with it..
Thanks though since u have had this experience, it does help.

Subject:  Epidural or not..

Am a little ok with msot options in birthplan..but still stuck with epidural or not..ofcourse birthplan is just a plan and can be changed, has anyone thought of it? i would like to try natural birth since we both maybe alone to take care of the child so don't want to take long to recover, still in two minds becoz i don't know how i will feel then..most of the guys in the class had predecided of an epidural and sounded confident, i left it as still deciding..
My husband feels since my blood pressure is always around 90-100/70 or 80, epidural does lower it furthur i should try normal..moreover labour takes longer becoz u don't feel contractions..any thoughts?

Hi Radhika
There is a website called birthplan(.)com from where I did my birthplan. Its pretty easy as most of the options are given there and u have to click a checkbox.Else there are places to add ur own option too.So check out that site.
So i selected what i felt like and did my birth plan.
So do go and checkout that site.If u go to the main page there it says \";Create a Plan\";.Click on that and will get u to the page to create the plan.
