Adoption:foreigners living in India looking to adopt

Hi everyone,

We are a foreign professional couple with a daughter who live in India and we would like to adopt an Indian child.

I understand as foreign nationals an Indian court can appoint us as the child' s guardian then normally the foreign nationals would take the child to his/her own country and adopt as per the laws of that country.

However as we live in India I am not sure how adoption would work?

Could anyone offer us some advice?
