Pranav,
I am in my 26th week. I had the problem of itching which started in my 23rd week, although mine started with rash initially. But the itching was bad. Washing with Dove soap and cold water is good. My itching is gone now after three weeks. I have written a detailed message in the September board - \";For Neetu - my long mail\";. You can read that if your wife's case is similar to mine. As Archie said, please ask her not to scratch, even though its tough.

Dear Pranav,
Glad to note that you support your wife in her difficult phase.

Swelling in the legs is normal, watch out however that she does not show swelling extending towards the face. Some swelling in hands and legs is very normal. Ask her to control carbohydrate, salt contents in her diet. She should not let her legs hang in chair or sofa for long time. In stead she can seat in sofa raising legs upward with some pillows underneath the legs.

Severe backache is common at this time. Make sure she does not face lower back pain for days. If her pain subside by resting then it's very normal. She will face for few more weeks, this is mainly due to growing uterus and increased size of baby, can get worse in last 4 weeks.
Tips: You can help her giving backrub with coconut oil before shower (prior to bed) and then ask her to use pillow between two legs and fold her legs towards abdomen. Also support her back with pillow while a sleep and she should feel much better. If she has to seat in the chair all the day, she can use support pillow in chair also. Standing jobs make backache get worse.

About itching, ask her not to scratch. Some itching is likely, due to skin getting stretched. If she is OK then ask her to use Johansson Baby lotion, this or apply some coconut oil before shower. No lotions should be applied those will be allergic. Use hypoallergic and baby stuff as it won't have bad impact on developing baby.
Sometime itching can be hormonal, in this case the bile gets mixed in blood and she will get itching getting worse. If above mentioned things does not help for her, she should call her Dr. and get her blood analyzed for possible bile contamination. Again, a few weeks to deliver baby, this condition won't affect her baby or her health, this is normal.

Keep me updated.
Archie
