Hello Friends,

I am in my 32nd week of pregnancy. As my BP was on borderline I do a weekly BP check with my office doc. On Friday my office doc (not my gynec) asked me to go for Hemoglobin, fasting blood sugar and urine test as my feet are getting swollen continuously. At the time of test pathologist performed Mantoux test (for checking tuberculosis) also because according to him my office doc has written this test also on the prescription. Today I checked internet about Mantoux test just for curiosity and found that it is not recommended during pregnancy and breast feeding. According to different sites there is no such evidence of side effects but they say unless until required because of the environmental conditions of pregnant woman this test should be conducted by evaluating the risks involved. But my working condition, present environmental condition and my health before and during pregnancy was perfectly alright. I don’t know why my office doc has written this test. And why I have not asked my gynec before doing this. Anyone of you has any idea what will be the side effects of this test on my baby. I don’t know what to do and don’t have guts to ask my gynec also because I have done something without taking permission from her. Please help me out.

Waiting for the response.

Shweta

Dont panic. Please talk to your doctor. as you say it is not recommended but does not say it should it is completely ruled out. Dont worry that you did not tell your doctor, please approach your doc. I dont think there is much to worry.

Dear AYUSHI,

I told everything to my gynac and she told me this will not harm my baby and me at all. Now I am relaxed. It was actually technician´ s mistake to perform wrong test on me. It´ s my bad luck to go through all this. My gynac told me not to worry b´ coz if I will be tensed my BP may rise. She told me that there are cases when they have to do this test multiple times also b´ coz pregnant lady is having Tuberculosis. But, yes this was not required at all in my case and it was non-indicative and non-warranted.
Thanks for your support.
Bye

You must never lie to 1. Your doctor, 2. Your lawyer, therefore dont think about guts etc, because your kid' s health is at stake.

Dear Friend,

I checked my office doc´ s prescription and she has written test for Urine test Routine and Microscopic which Pathology technician of the hospital misunderstood it as MT i.e. Mantoux Test. I met my gynac and told everything to her she was very much angry with the technician but she told me that this test will not harm my baby and me. I told the incident to the Senior Pathologist of the Hospital she also assured me that this test will not harm both of us. But, yes this was not required at all non-indicative and non-warranted. They have taken action against that technician also. That was my bad luck to go through all this I will be more cautious now onwards. Thanks for your support.

Bye

Domperidone
There is a medicine for this condition. If your child is spitting up BF as well as lactogen, then Farex would not be the solution. There is a medicine which contains Domperidone made exclusively for babies which effectively treats this condition. Ask your doctor and then if he gives the go ahead, you can try this medicine. ... - Mel [View Message]
