i have been diagnosed with gest.diabetes.i was send to dietitian for meal plan.what plan she gave me is half meal which i used to have earlier.for eg.i used to consumed 3 phulkas and little rice.now since 1 week i am having only 2 chapatis.if i eat more my blood sugar rises.i have started walking now everyday for 20 min after meals which earlier i never used to do.
but now i am seeing that i have lost weight by 2 pounds in 1 week in 33 weeks of pregnancy.
has anybody have this problem.
should i start consuming fats as i have limited their intake.please give me your opinion.
anyway i spoke with my Dr he told me to keep record of weight for 1 more week and then he will let me know what is to be done.

please help

i am from aug board and i also had this GD and came to know abt it in 8th month.
same things my Dr told and u know by the end of ninth month i lost 8 kg and my baby was doing well.
i took lots of leafy vegetables and 2 rotis.No milk no rice no sweets.insetad of rice i took daliya tasted same as rice.
in the beganing it was sufficent,felt like eating more but after a week all got adjusted. did 15min walking after every meal and 2 times extra which was equivalent to 5 km a day.
i also took 4 unit of insulin 2 times.
my sugar levels were fine now and 18 day before my EDD i went for C-sectin as my Dr. said that she cant wait for normarl delivery.
my son was normal and after deliver got tested 2 time bt now no diabites.
Dont worry lossing weight is good for u. after delivery u will not have to do excercise or other thing to reduce ur weight,
be happy and feel good and for other details u can read the posting of Gb on AUG board.

yes its true what ur doc is telling pls listen ... even i had the same prob ...what the dieticieb has done is increase ur complex carbs....rice was it unpolished???have u stopped all other forms carbs intake ??? if not stop it...drop in wt with ges diabetes is normal ...as u have jst started the diet the body will get accustomed and soon regain ...in the mean time eat lot of fillers when ever u r hungry like cucumber,tomatoes..if ur non veg some amnth of boiled chicken ... or may be 1 or 2 eggs a day .... these inbetween meals....
dont start eating fats ...they store up ..and later will be a prob ...
the key is eat healthy
r u on insulin????
walking is v good.... jst by walking 3 a week mine came dwn ...a lot ..but remain undiagnosed after 2nd trimister
