Name: Reshma Nair
Hi, I' m 31, married for 6 years and been trying for a baby for the past 6 months. We tried naturally for 3 months and decided to consult a gynaecoloist. As I' m already 31, the gynaecologist decided to acter faster and put me onto ovulation boosting pills and I underwent IUI thrice with no success. I have not been able to conceive. She suggests that I undergo Laparoscopy to understand the reasons for not being able to conceive.
Let me state some facts before seeking advice.
1. My husband' s sperm count varies between 30-40 million and has a motility of 30-40.
2. I have a regular 28-day cycle and have minimal abdominal pains during periods.
3. From the past 3 Trans-vaginal scanning reports, it has been observed that I ovulate on the 13th or 14th day and seem to be developing normal sized egg (20+) per cycle.
4. I have a relatively stressful work life and face work tensions.
The problem is I have not been able to conceive in the 3 IUIs conducted. And I' m very worried about undergoing Laparoscopy and do not seem to be convinced as to why I have to undergo the surgical diagnosis procedure. I will ask my doc about the reasons, but before I do, I would like to ask some of you who might have faced similar problems so I can be prepared with some information.
1. Is Laparoscopy the only way to detect all problems if IUI fails?
2. What other problems could be there that could be detected only through Laparoscopy considering the fact that I' m regular on my periods and ovulate regularly.
3. What symptoms would these problems pose that I should watch out for?
Looking forward for some responses.
