Hi all,
Yesterday my MIL visa was rejected at Delhi Embassy. There was no good reason for it.Actually my MIL is Govt. teacher and she gave them her job letter as well as 4 months holiday approval letter.
But they just said what will happen to your students if you r going for 4 months .Who will teach them. That was so bad since she has already 4 months leave approved from Govt.then why they need to ask it.
Hey ,did anyone of you said that ur MIL/PIL is coming for ur help in pregnancy. She has not said this. And have anyone of u applied second time.
Take care,
Nikki

Suni replied. Hi Nikki,
I am so sorry to hear the news of your MIL's visa....the ways of the consulate is really irritating.
While re-applying please do not mention pregnancy, coz the automatic assumption is that they come here to do a nanny's job, and that amounts to taking away an American job.
But reducing the duration of stay will really help, ask her to say 4-6 weeks and that she would visit during India's Dasera/Diwali vacation. Let's hope for the best and that she is here in time to help you through the delivery. Keep faith and dont give up.

Radhika replied. I am so sorry nikki..that was no reason, generally they sometimes i feel just deny for no reason, maybe they have a limit of visas to be issued in a day.
I am reapplying but next month, august bombay embassy had a lot of student visa rush, a bit worried with sept. 11th anniversary also coming, but trying our best, my mil had been to the english counter, heard some people say hindi counter does better..so maybe u can try and find out from others who applied to the delhi embassy of their experiences, personally i think its just luck and mood of the person, in my case, they didn't see any paper of my mil just asked her to ask her son to come and meet her.
I will try once again, this time we are specifying in the letter to the consulate about her personal ties back home, reduced duration to 4-5 weeks and asking her to take an appointment early morning (hopefully fresher mood is more pleasent in bombay heat :)). I am not applying FIL and MIL together, since he is still govt. employee and they ask too many ques when in airforce service.
Reduce duration in application form may help.
I would suggest u to go the path2usa discussion forum and ask others in the site, and immigration dot gov site there is a forum for B2 visas. go thru experiences and see what is different in delhi embassy.
Practically i would say go thru all the classes u have and ask friends around to help you out even if they cannot make it on time. Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.
DOn't worry u will be fine, initially we may go thru a little more trouble with our own tiredness and care for baby learning it but u should be fine.
Till then finish ur outside shopping work, ask ur husband to help u with cooking for first 2 weeks atleast. ask help and accept it if offered.
Be positive, keep ur mil also positive and calm so she can face the next interview. Stress not good at this stage..for u too, sugar level in body also goes up, so just try to divert ur mind or talk to a friend when loaded with doubts..Take care. Be cheerful.
