I am 22 years of age. I am still a virgin. But, offlate, I have been lactating from my breasts. I have heard that women generally lactate only after they get pregnant. Is that true? Or can girls/women who hasnt had any kind of sexual experience, can they lactate.

Sometimes, its just embarrasing as all the milk just comes out in my bra and I find it a bit unhygenic to wear a wet bra. Is there some problems with my breasts or it is normal for other ladies for lactating before indulging in any kind of sexual relationship.

hi roopali,
Even I had this problem as soon i got married..and i was pretty sure that i was not pregnant..
My Gyn said this can happen when you have some harmonal balance,your pituitary glands are responsible for the production of milk itseems so they tested my blood..When my result of my blood work they came to know that i have a thyroid problem called hypothyroidism..
your doctor can tell you much clearly and can test you..so i advise you to take an appointment with your doctor ASAP sometimes it may be severe..

roopali,
i'm sorry to hear that at this age u've started lactating. u should consult your gyn. as soon as u can. there is some hormonal imbalance. coz women only start lactating only after the birth of babies.
and let me know what the doctor said.

Hi shweta

I had consulted the doctor and as you said, it is some kind of hormonal imbalance. Since, it is not too much, she told it should be alright and not to worry about it much. If the quantity of milk starts increasing, then she told that she will recommend some medicines. She has asked me to go to her if the lactating increases.
