HI ,
I am in my 13th week now and mY TSH level is 3.29 and I was told by doctor above 3 is above normal for pregnant women and have been advsied 2 more tests to confirm/further treatment

am very worried as I hear it affects baby' s brain development and IQ

I have tested every year for thyroid before pregnancy and it was fine

does anyone have a similar problem and if so how have you dealt with it ?

Please advise - thank you

hi sudha

from what i understand tsh levels rise in between weeks 2 - 20 and the normal range is 2.7 to 9.1 ... my level is 3.77 and i am not too worried coz this is within the normal range of rise in tsh levels..

hi
during preg thyroid rises a bit ..and its perfectly ok..spcly ur redaing ...what ur doc might suggest now ...is a free t3 and t4...whis usually is with in the range...is all fine..
this wont harm the child in any way..these r all preg induced..when u never had thyroid... dont worry too much ...too much stress in turn may hamper the child...
do some walking and ... and breathing exercise and all will b fine

hi,
I was also found to have have high TSH in my 1st trimester therefore my doc suggested for complete thyroid testing and found levels to be ok. According to her TSH levels do not represent a dysfunctional thyroid. I would suggest you to go for actual thyroid testing[I don' t know what the scientific name for this testing]maybe your thyroid is OK
good luck
Ishi
