Medication Effect on Foetus:Ultrasound and medication on 6 week foetus

Name: Shashi S

I am 29 year old man with wife 27 yrs and married for 2.5 years. We are TTC for past few months and we visited a gynecologist at a reputed clinic in our city in India. On first visit, doctor gave folic acid and got all the tests done for thyroid and progesterone. After few days when report came normal, she put my wife on clomid and monitored ovum growth with ultrasound and gave injections of HCG (2x200ml) on the fully developed stage. However we didn’t conceive that month and next month we continued cycle of clomid on doc’s recommendation and now we find last week that my wife is pregnancy with 6 weeks of baby. When we visited doctor today, she did an ultrasound knowing that it is of 6 weeks and shows the heartbeat and the scan on screen. She also prescribed Susten (Progesterone gelatin capsule) (for 15 days to avoid abortion) and Ecospirin (delayed aspirin) (for 30 days for thinning of blood}and asked us to scan after 15 days and next one after 1.5 months from today.
My question is that Is it no harm for a baby (6 weeks) to get ultrasound and then respective 2 more ultrasound in first 13 weeks of baby? I also think of these ultrasounds and medicines as unnecessary and considering it common for a high cost posh clinic. From the earlier reports all the progesterone levels were normal in pre lucetal stage.
Can you advise and suggest what shall be pursued now? Our first priority is to avoid any abnormalities in child and not mingle with its growth and avoid any after effects of ‘unnecessary medication on my wife in future.

Hi,
The ultrasound is safe at any stage of pregnancy. So no worries.
The medication that you mentioned is also commonly prescribed, hence it should be OK.
Don' t get concerned unnecessarily.
All the best

RE:Hypertension drugs (antihypertensives)
hello editor,
hypertension is high blood pressure, normal blood pressure level is 140/90 but if blood pressure is more than that then its not good for pregnancy, so try to keep your blood pressure under control.... - bhavika [View Message]
