Hi Aditi,

Prenatal blood tests are the first thing a gyn do on your first visit after you confirm your pregnancy. Its a must as it gives them an overall idea of your health and whether u need any vaccinations to protect against some diseases which can complicate if u get it during your pregnancy.

My next appointment is in my 12th week but my doc is not very supportive for frequent u/s as he says mine is normal till now and my first u/s confirmed his words so I dont know whether he will give me an option to have a u/s before my 5th month.

Tina,

I did read about the serum test. Which week is this for u? My doc didnt told us anything about any such tests till now may be I have to wait till my next appointment in Oct.

my due date is changed to apr6th. yesterday my doc's appt went well. heard our babys heartbeat. doc explained about all the test results that they had taken. next appt they might take some other blood test too. did any of your doctor mention about taking serum test ? it seems its optional to take the test ,its to know the birth defects if any.
