We have a 2 month old baby. He cries for no apparent reason especially in the afternoons and evenings, sometimes late in the night too. Lots of gas is passed out in his stools. Any suggestions to bring in relief to the baby???

My son has rashes on body including face. We consulted 2 doctors in Pune (MH, India), one said it's due to the allergy of Baby oil, powder etc and asked us to stop everything. Second said it's due to hormonal changes in the mother. My son Varad is completely breast fed. Does anyone know why is that or has come across similar problem?

Thanks,
Buddhi

hi anubhuti,

my baby used to cry a lot too. just as you describe. sadly such babies are said to have a colic, we don't know what makes babies cry. you have not mentioned whether your son is breast fed or on formula. have you tried to soothe your baby with a running faucet or any such other \";white noise\"; like a running vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer. also rocking a baby while holding him in your arms helps. after and in between feeds be sure that you burp him.
hope this helps. let me knwo if you have further questions. be sure to love your baby:)

Anubhuti,
Our doctor prescribed a spoon of \";Woodwards Gripe water\"; for our 2 month old daughter who used to cry continuosly in the evenings. It has really helped her, she doesnt cry that way anymore.

anubhuti,
i've a 2 1/2 month old son. he use to cry when he was a month old. we gave him gripe water. and what really worked for him is- i give him saunf and ajwain water. i put about 10-12 seeds of saunf and 3-4 seeds of ajwain. boil it and add pinch of sugar. let it cool down and then i give this to my boy every morning. he still passes a lot of gas, which is very common among babies.
but he doesn't cry.
let me know if this works.
where do u live? i live in chicago.
