Hai Jayashree and all,
I am from feb. board. since our board is silent for a long time I have planned to join this board. I delivered my kid on feb. 5th and she will be 6 months old in 2-3 days.

So far I have been giving rice cereal(home made [boiled rice+saboodhana+gram dal(chutney ka dal]powder mixed with milk and water -cooked well) and BM.I have been giving rice cereal 2 times a day.For the past 10 days I have started adding boiled and mashed carrot along with the cereal.

What else can be given to the lil one?Pls. moms send me ur recipes and timings as I don't have elders nearby to guide me.

Sanya,
Sorry about the late reply. I was waiting until my daughter's 6 mth check up was over so that i could ask my doc about solids and then start her on it.
Neways, here's what my doc said:
She said to start giving rice and dal....mashed very well...She said to feed solids thrice a day...breakfast,lunch and dinner....two of these feedings should be half cereal/rice(i.e,some form of carbohydrate)+half veggie. Veggies should be given first before introducing fruit. The only things she said to not give are honey, orange, tomato, strawberries and egg white(egg yolk is ok to give).Idlis, dosas all these can be given well mashed.Introduce these one at a time and wait for 2-3 days to make sure that your baby does not have any reaction to it.
She also said that for the first week or two, I should give gerber veggies/fruit for at least one of the meals rather than home made 'coz theire preparation retains the vitamins and minerals much better than what's prepared at home.
I haven't tried any of these solids yet 'coz her check up was only today...most likely i will start on monday..so far i've only been giving ragi cereal in the morning and oatmeal cereal in the evening.
Hope this helps. Also, talk to your pediatrician and see what (s)he recommends.

Have any of you pierced your baby´ s ears?
Have any of you pierced your baby' s ears? Where did you get it done? Were you able to change the earrings after the piercing and put on indian ear rings? My pediatrician does not do it, and she suggested that i take tanvi to the mall. Pls share your experiences at the mall if you' ve had any.

Ear piercing
My daughter was 5 months old when we decided to get her ear pierced. The non medical ear piercing options are painful and unsafe with possibilities of hepatitis, viruses and even HIV and I can never recommend it. My husband and I were looking for a safe, modern, gun shot piercing option which is completely safe, pain-free and with a traditional touch as well.
