In many families in India a DIL is still identified as \" that person's wife\" at her in-laws place, or even amonsgt in-laws relatives.

If you look at it from one angel, it is not quite wrong. Its just psychological. They have been seeing the son for all these years so their \" minds\" identify him well. Moreover, there are so many sons in the family, plus there is a trend of calling by nicknames, so its also hard to remember names.

Also for their minds to start identifying you individually or remembering your name, there needs to be development of such a close and affectionate relationship with each person, which may not happen due to various reasons.

I too have experienced the same thing in my 7-8 yrs of married life about me and other DILs. Even in discussions ppl say \" that person's wife is good, this person's wife is bad\" , etc etc.

Whatever it may be, I have also seen that good deeds dont go waste. Even if credit goes to the hubby, its just his name, it just seems so. For your good deeds, people do have YOU in the mind and its building your image only. Your hubby is gaining respect bec of your good deeds.

I wd say, dont worry abt that, just continue doing the good job. Some day or other, you will get the credit.
