Planning a Baby  Discussion Forum

Hi there,

I am very happy to see this forum which specifically talks about adoption. I and my wife are married for 9 years now and have no kids. We have registered in a place called Mahaboobnagar (District, which is around 100kms away from Hyderabad). I have few clarifications to be made on my application: We are looking for to adopt a girl kid within 1 year.

a. The place we are registered is Women and Child Welfare organization based out in Mahaboobnagar. We met the director of this organization, and came to know that there are 16 people in the seniority list and they have 10 girl babies with them. My questions are as follows:
i. When I asked them why those 10 kids are not given to Prospective Parents, they said that most of the people are looking to adopt boy babies as opposed to girls. Would this bring us into seniority?
ii. Now that there are only 16 people in the seniority list, how long do you think we would be luckiest parents
iii. We have registered just last week, would we get the home study pretty soon.

Please advice.

Sujit Chakraborty replied. Hi, I am from Agartala, Tripura. I have married 3 years ago with no baby still. In this situation we both have decided to adopt a female baby. Why this preference is because growing a girl is more challenging. The common preference in the society is to have a boy. We would like to think a bit differently. Please suggest what to do.
