Myself and wife have taken a vow to go to tirupati. While I shall definitely get my head shaved my wife is not too sure and need some encouragement as she thinks female headshaving at tirupati is practiced by only poor and low caste women? I would be happy if some ladies may reply about their experience and whether they are looked down by society. Then it will be easier for me to convince my wife about shaving her head at tirupati. I think u r interested to offer yr hair to lord balaji. U may ask ur wife if she is willing then offer her also. Or otherwise leave it.

Nandini, you are under a false impression. just go there and check your self. very rich ladies do offer their hair (tonsure). if you go to guest houses you may see rich women offering hair. even you will get motivation by seeing that. a vow must be fulfilled wholeheartedly other wise there will be many bad consequences (I have seen few). i am an boy from a rich family only.my friend mamitha is also 18 from rich family only. in fact she is a brahmin.we both went to tirupati last month and we shaved our head there. all r eql before god.tell ur wife that tonsuring there will bring good to u both. dont tell to feel abt the society which may tease with shaven head. u both r doing for a good sake only.

Tonsuring in Tirupathi is a sacred practice. Your wife's opinion is wrong. There are many hish society people who pray to Lord Venkateshwara and tonsure their head very often.

If u & ur wife have prayed for a certain cause then u surely have to abide by the prayers u have offered. But that shuld be done with whole heartedly. So tell this to ur wife. Hope she understands. If she is little hesitant pls don't compell her as there will be no use in tonsuring at compulsion.
