Due Date Club July 2005:3.5month old ADVAIT update from Dr. visit
2005-10-15
Name: Sudha

Dear Moms,

Here is the update from Advait side. We have taken him for 3rd vaccination and his Ped was pretty happy with his growth. He has been weighted 7.7kg (17pound) and 66cms. Ped has adviced to start Iron supplment (few drops everyday), he cautioned me that it may show affect in his tool which can be little blackish but nothing to worry.

He told me to start if I want, semi solid when he complete 4months. In semisolid, I can use raagi or rice kheer (he specaily told not to start weat stuff) or celeac, to start with it should be very thin and I should give only 1 spoon first day and then 2 or 3 spoon and can extent upto one bowl. When he become 4.5month old can start fruits like banana, apple and can give fruit juices also.

Archie, just wanted to findout if Advait weight is not too much as he was looking little older then 6months baby around there.

Now since he started moving hope he will not keep on gaining weight in same speed :-). He will make his face completly red and will be sweating fully when trying to move ahead.

That's all from my side...Have a nice weekend..

Sudha

Dear Sudha,
It's pleasant update indeed.
Advait is sweetheart, such a handsome boy and doing great.

About your concern, he is little tall boy, I don't know if that makes you happy or sad. He has weight gain about 95 percentile to his height and you should not be worried for that part.

No, baby does not continue growing with the same pace as it does in first few months. In fact from 6 months onward you might not see much weight gain or see only a pound per month or 1.5 pounds per month. I don't think it's a concern today.

Why don't you buy a book online about babys' first year and I can help you with suggesting sites to know more about what to expect in each months or each week. The rule while using these books is not to read too much closely as each baby is different. I have had two books and enjoyed and 80% times things matched with what's said in those books. Just a suggestion. Otherwise I am here to throw my opinion although I don't regard myself good at pediatric stuff. I will relate experience and some littel reading that's gained from those two books.

because he is trying to move faster he is getting red, but good news on development part.

he will laugh and sequeal, make noise by moutch with lips use, will try to respond your voice, since his neck muscle developing he might track object if you hold near his eye seight (don't try too hard this one just once or twice a day is OK but not frequently), he migh roll and try to turn back while on his belly or so -again due to neck development, if you try to hold him straight might hold his weight and if you give a toy will try to grab it.
On solids your Drs suggestion is must.

Take care
Archie

Hi Archie,
Happy to see your note. I will highly appreciate if you can let me know the book names. I will be going this week-end to hunt some good poster for him in 'LandMark' shop in Bbangalore, hope to get your book there.

Yes we realised that he is little taller as in the progress graph provided by hospital, he is above the hyperbole line in each weight, height and head circumference. Naturally I am with his height :-)

Now a days he started tilting his neck here and there, in fact his head is most of time not align with his body. He will just chnage the direction of her head and look it to TV or somethin g else.

Where r u leaving Advait now, when you goto work.

Regards,
Sudha

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
