Hi archie
iam currently 5 weeks pregnant by the grace of god,i ahve had a previous miscarriage at 12 weeks ,reasons unknown ,it was natural.
Iam very scared this time and am stepping on eggshells as i dont want to do anything in my capacity to make things go wrong, ultimately it is in HIS hands what the future holds.
I went for my appt, and met the midwife and she gave me food chart s etc.on my request they did a hcg beta test and rept in 72 hrs to see if the preg is proceeding fine.here are the results
at 4 weeks 3 days - 1456
after 72 hrs - 4100
do these look okay to you.iam planning to keep repeating hcg every week till they do an ultrasound.is this recommended??
Archie what abt pregesterone i read in other posts that it could be a major factor to avoid abortion but my OB says they will do that in 8th week all bloodwork ,,,isnt that too late.
iam so paranoid at waiting so long to test .They are very cool even though i have had a m/c before and saythat they will do U/S only at 10 weeks unless i spot before that they will do it early.
I dont want to wait till that stage.

Sorry to overload you with so many questions but i really need some advice and i have seen that you are so helpful and good by helping all on this board.thanks so much for you time and efforts and advice.
So should i ask them for early progestrone test and early ultrasound?if yes when should i do those tests ,iam 5 weeks today.

please reply soon ,eagerly waiting for some advci
thanks and may god reward you for you help.

My hormone levels were lower and through ultrasound at 6 weeks, discovered a healthy embryo and heartbeat. Your HcG numbers are great. You should not worry

Sophia,
I understand your concern and anxiety.
One miscarriage is not a medical issue and unless one loose three in a row there are no medical guidelines to treat pregnancy as a high risk or look into other possible threats to miscarriage.

If you have had visit to OB or midwife she must have had your internal examination and physical check up done. That would have shown your pregnancy symptoms and may be cervix altered with it's color and being inverted at high position.

I would not worry too much at this stage on progesterone unless you spot. Spotting could be due to two reasond, primarily due to low lying and secondarily due to less progesterone. Either of cases known on time can be treated and taken care off. They are both normal in first trimester and to some extend in second or third trimester as well.

In my opinion taking bed rest and not eating out would help you hang in there for 4-5 weeks before you could get all confirmations.

I am against any ultrasound before completion of 7 weeks, totally against. Because that could be too early in some cases to hear heartbeats, even to see fetal pole and regardless it's normal or not couple come with anxiety and concern from ultrasound before completion of 7 weeks.

Each Drs. office vary in their practice just like each country vary with their medical religion.

You do not have to pressurize to get progesterone tested at this stage. But just in case you spot, request for progestrone injection even before blood results to confirm progesterone problem.

Loosing is hard and following second after one loss is even hard as you always will think of previous mishap. But that's unfair at the same time on second pregnancy, it deserves full attention and excitment as much you express when you get pregnant for first time.

Your hCG are not only good but great. No, you don't need to repeat them each week. After a certain point the values don't really double in each 48 hours and that can place you in confusion although that's normal.

I see a healthy pregnancy in your case and you must treat yourself like one and welcome this developing embryo in your womb and let that graduate to Foetus at the completion of sixth week and if you really can pressurize your OB then you can request to have an ultrasound in your 8th or 9th week, howz that, just to keep your mind at ease.

Till then bed rest, no tea/coffee, no salads or salad dressings, no cheese. only fully cooked home made meal. NO poultry, no meat no fish:)

Sophia,
Avoid craft or any cheese for until you complete 13 weeks gestation. I will make suggestion to eat or not thereafter.
Milk also only if you boil and cool it at home, not directly from the grocery bottles.
