Hi Nikki
I hope u r doing better now. Wanted to know if ur baby's movements have increased because of the change in diet. ASked the nurse and the dietician, they said its normal and I am concentrating more perhaps because i am thinking of adequate intake.
Had my GD class, was really informative and since we were the only ones at the time, we had one to one discussions about our diet too. Explained why and how our system works and even though most of my readings were normal, why the slight increase is also taxing for some time..had 1 and 1/2 hour with the information instructor and 1 and 1/2 hour with the dietician. WE discussed daily diet including indian items..rice, roti, idli, dosa, etc..diet for me given was 3 meals with 45gms of carbs and mid snack meals of 30gms. in all can have 3-4 snacks and 3 meals but not to eat anything for 2 hours after a meal.
Sugar is not counted because if u check the label the carbs contents is further divided into dietary fibre and sugar..so carb content shown on label minus dietery fibre is what ur actual carb intake with the food is.
Fruits and veg. list and quantity to be taken for 15gms of carbs - 1serv. was given. Potatoes, corn and peas disallowed. Nuts surprisingly have very less carbs..so can snack on peanuts/peanut butter/ carrots / can try V8 juice / salads/ whole grain products. She didn't stop me from taking my protein shake becoz of the nutrients, i just changed my time of taking it because i walk in the evening after work to the bus stop, and later..so now sip it after the 2 hour meal from 3-5..she had no problem with that. All veg have hardly any carbs...so eating just vegetables if my intake of roti is done with..having a bowl of salad leaves (love the iceberg lettuce).
other lentils, beans, kabuli channa all 1/2 cup per meal is 1 intake(15 gms) of carb..I am making my own calc...because luckily here all pulses have the amount of carbs listed on the package..so also checking the chappati flour packages, rice, etc..
otherwise , baby will be fine..will be checked for sugar when born poor little thing..but otherwise no other problems expected if taken care. My main meals were relatively quantity so just breaking it..even roti she said if u feel is less then u can take one and eat it later..
She did say if u feel weak u should chk the sugar level..maybe its becoz itshot up..
All in all both were very helpful and have given a number to call for any doubts.
Hoping these 2 months of care will help the baby thru'out their life..
If u have any tips u have gathered till now...do let me know.
