Hi..

All of you who're planning to join work, who is going to take care of the lil one when u're in office?

My mom'll return to Kerala by month-end and from then it's a full time nanny for Kichu. i'm so paranoid aout the lady not taking proper care. What should i do to ensure she takes care of him well? She's with us from last month and is good to him when we're there. She knows all his schedules and he is OK with her..

It'll never be as if my mom takes care of him.. :-( i have no other go 'coz the only alternate is MIL.. She beleive in chubby babies and overfeeds, that too form a cup!! And the stress i'll have to go through is another thing..

I just am so confused.. Help!!

Love
Paddoo

Subject:  Personal Choice..

Hey Padma,

Honestly speaking, this is a very personal choice. I had kept a nanny at home (I am in the US), and she was a nepali female. I was quite upset at the way she was taking care of Rishu. She would carry him all day which of course he loved but it was spoiling him totally. Plus there were no development activities by her for the baby which is so imp. Plus she wasnt hygenic at all. We also visited some nice day cares centres here and after a 2 month long struggle about what to do I quit my job to take of my baby. Day care was good but couldnt leave him at 6 weeks old. I feel that we have no idea at all abt what the nanny can do or not do when she is alone with the baby at home..also heard a lot of horror stories..one was from a close friend whose nanny used to tie up the baby when he would cry. One day when he was crying at home, the elder brother (5 yrs then) just casually mentioned oh, tie him up, he will be fine...and that is how the parents came to know abt all this...but then that was an extreme case too. Since day care centres are registered and are resp for dev of baby and there are many other kids around..it is hard for them to be negligent towards the baby etc. So we decided that when I go back to work (in a few months) we will choose day care over a nanny even though nanny would be a much more convenient choice as they also do little house work and then no jhamela of picking and dropping the baby.
But this is purely what I feel and you may differ...just thought I should share this with ya...
Chalo then Love Reena
