hai friends,
I am enjoying all of your company and knowledge.
Does any one know exactly how many times they do
Ultra sound.Is it every visit, I heard too much
Rays are not good for the baby.
What is a AFP test?

DK is right. US is not harmful. I am in India and my Doc. did first Ultra Sound at the end of two months. and will do second inbetween forth and fifth month. then it will be in eighth month and then in ninth month. In India it is genarelly like this there are some cases in which they do Ultra Sound in every month.

Hi Mahak,

For me my doctor has done US everyvisit. By the way US is done using Sound waves so there is no harm in doing it. Medically also it is proved that US is not doing any harm.

AFP is Alpha Feto Protein test. Mother's blood contains some hormons which are indicative of Down's syndrom, Spina bifada or such abnormalities in child. This test tells you how much risk your baby have to get this abnormalities. You can get some info on this site
