HI RAMYA
MY MOM DID THE HOMEWORK OF MAKING THE RAGI POWDER...OK U HAVE TO SOAK THE RAGI N GRIND IT WELL...STRAIN IT WELL TO SEPARATE THE RAGI N THE SKIN..U CAN USE LOTSOF WATER WHILE STRAINING ...THEN LEAVE THE RAGI TO STAND FOR AN HOUR OR SO ..U CAN C THE WATER SEPARATE FROM RAGI...REMOVE THE WATER N DRY THE RAGI PULP IN SUN UNTIL VERY DRY ...U CAN USE TIS POWDER (ONE SPOON) TO MAKE KANJI . JUST MIX 1 TSP RAGI WITH WATER N SUGAR CUBES .COOK ON FIRE WHILE CONTINOUSLY STIRRING .ONCE IT GETS THICK JUST ADD A DROP OF GHEE N FEED ...GUD WHILE ITS HOT !! I DONT MIX FORMULA MILK OR BM...SAKSHI LIKES TO EAT IT JUST LIKE TIS !!!IF U WISH U CAN ADDA LILL BM OR FORMULA MILK TO THE COOKED RAGI N FEED.
TIS DRY POWDER CAN B MADE N KEPT FOR MONTHS...ELSE U CAN SOAK SMALL QTY OF RAGI,THE SAME METHOD N MAKE THE KANJI INSTANTLY ...

I HAVE NT STARTED HIGH CHAIRS FOR SAKSHI ..FOR NOW I MAKE HER LIE DOWN N FEED OR I PUT HER IN THE ROCKING CHAIR...WITH THE ROCKING CHAIR SHE TRIES TO JUMP OUT...SO THE SLEEPING POSITION IS EASIER FOR ME ...AS FOR ATUL I HAD TRAINED HIM WITH HIGH CHAIRS WHEN HE WAS ALMOST A YEAR ...SAKSHI DID NT HAVE PROB WITH BOTTLES AS I HAVE GIVEN HER SINCE BIRTH ..COS I HAD INSUFFICIENT BM..SO IT WAS 50 -50 FOR HER ..THEREFORE SHE GOT ADJUSTED ..BUT I HAVE SEEN MY NEIGH GETTING TROUBLED TO WEAN HER BABY TO BOTTLES...IM NOT SO SURE HOW U CAN GET OVER IT ..BUT TRY TO READ BENJAMIN SPOCKS \";BABY N CHILDCARE\";..U LL FIND ANSWERS FOR ALMOST EVERYTHING..I HAVE IT IN MY HAND ALMOST EVERYTIME...A DOUBT IN MY MIND SPOCKS REALLY HELP ME !!!

Hello

Hi Ramya,

This is not related to your ragi question... i have a query to ask you and others .. have you started to use High chairs or booster seats for feeding solids?? I am thinking of buying booster seat.. any suggestions?? And one more thing.. Ritika doesnt seem to take bottles or formula .. did your littles ones give trouble for the same?? What did you gals do to solve it... meaning which bottle you think is the best??

Pls advice. Take care. Love to your little ones.

no...i've not started using a high chair yet....i lay her on my leg and feed her.
Tanvi has never had a problem taking bottles 'coz she had trouble latching on early...and I started pumping and feeding her breast milk exclusively in a bottle.I've used several bottles before narrowing down to two that are in my opinion the best bottles....avent and dr. browns. Both r equally good.
Ramya, how much cereal do you feed at a time?
I get ragi powder from the indian store here. So I kind of skip the hard part that Pria has mentioned. The rest of it is the same. I add some sugar, water and keep stirring it until it is thickened. I tried adding BM once, but it became too runny and Tanvi takes it just fine without any milk, so Iam just feeding it as is after thickening.
Have any of u started any fruit juices?

Hey rv & Jayashree,
How are you guys doing.

RV: My friend gave my one booster seat,havent started using that,iam putting Ritvik in my Leg and giving him solid.Ones he sits nicely iam planning to make him sit in the Booster Seat.Then
from 2nd month i gave bottle to Ritvik.I use AVENT Bottles.I gave PLaytex but he is not verycomfortable.Problem is he is not having Water.His PED told to give water.But he is not taking.Ramya have u started giving anyonther solids to Rithika?

Jayashree: Yes,i have started with Rice Cereal.How abt you.

Hey Jay,

I give 3 spoons now.Slowly iam increasing the Qty and Consistency.Iam plannigto give juice after he completes 6 Months.Do u give Formula to Tanvi?Planning to give ragi cereal to Ritvik.Lets see how far it goes.

Have any of you pierced your baby´ s ears?

Have any of you pierced your baby' s ears? Where did you get it done? Were you able to change the earrings after the piercing and put on indian ear rings? My pediatrician does not do it, and she suggested that i take tanvi to the mall. Pls share your experiences at the mall if you' ve had any.
