Due Date Club October 2005:Yash - 6 months today
2006-04-25
Name: SK

Yash turns 6 months today ...wow i really cannot believe that...

He rolls over very very well now...like it a evryday routine :).

He has started to sit for a while now without support.

He is eating cereals and veggies well.

He has six month appt on 6th may and 2 shots on that day :(

Naps for 3-4 hours during the day.

Right now only challenge is his waking up at nights...still wakes up every 2 hrs sometime 1/2 hr or 1 hr.So it becomes very hard for me to work during the day. I have done some research and now i am able to put him to sleep at around 8 PM.He has slept before 8 since so many days now...but wakes up evry hour.I have to just move him from side to side and he goes back to sleep.sometimes nurse him....he plays and nurses long time at around 5-6 am.gets up finally for the day around 8-9 am.still not managing to teach him go back to sleep.he sleeps in the crib.Plus does not go to sleep without me...even not with my husband.

I hope all of your little ones are doing good, luv to them.

Anbody in and around LA,california side for a get2geather :)

tc,
SK

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Vasavi,

I bath him at 10.30 - 11.00 AM..before sitting to work...that way he naps well for 2 hrs minimum....also putting him to sleep at night is no problem...he is himself wants to go to sleep by 7.30 PM so it ok there.
I have prepared the application for PIO.Yet to post it...later i will apply for OCI(as it takes longer time to get it).

Veenu,Suki

I will definately try to water suggestion at night...right now willing to try anything. it has been months i have had a continuos 2-3 hrs sleep.
It is not difficult to put him to sleep at night...he himself gets sleepy and shouts to sleep at around 7.30 PM (all thanks to the nap schedule). only thing is his waking up at night and not going back to sleep on his own.

Veenu, nice to know the schedule is working for you...encourages me to give it a try...i remmember you had mentioned that rohan to was waking 4-5 times at night.thanks for all the suggestions.

tc guys..love to all the little ones.

hi SK
my daughter turned 6 months last week.yesterday i took her for shots.she's around 13 pounds in 5th percentile.doc gave me some recipes for gaining weight.
activities : she started crawling already doc says that might be one of the reasons she did not gain weight.
she sits with support.she never gets up dduring nights.try giving water during night feeds slowly they stop waking in the middle of the nights.take care

Subject:  waking at night - Tips

SK - Very good update.

Rohan also used to get so much at night now he gets up only 1 time ( touch wood) @ 4:00 . I tried what my doc suggested for 3 weeks and it worked...

He asked me to give water at night. Sometimes they get up not for feeding but just like that or their mouth is dry and slowly they also understand night time is not for feeding but sleeping... Believe me you are not starving the kid they will make up for it in the morning... Also if they r really hungry they will not go back to sleep after water and tell u they need milk and then u van give it to them

Tips:

- Try to chnage them to sleeping suit at night say 7:30 or 8:00 every day ( This is the sign to them sleeping time is approching if u do this every single day)
- Then give them last feed bottle/breastfeed
- After feeding read them a story book ( I know they don't understand but again it will be a routine after a while)
- Dim the lights of the room
- Don't take them out of the room to bright room or entertain if he is not sleeping (Big Mistake we all do)
- Then put them to sleep by rocking/singing whichever works for you
- Sleep @ 8:30-9:00 ( whatever time works for u)
- When they get up at night give them bottle of water, if necessary rock them - if they fall asleep great if not ( cranky or give u indication of hunger give them milk)

They will learn slowly,,,

IMP - Don't play with them or entertain when they wake up at night- keep it boring...

My experience... First it didn't work for me and slowly slowly it started working... I have one two hard days in a week but it is working...

Love to yash

SK,

Good to know about Yash's update. Post some pictures in yahoo group board.

Try to give him a bath before he sleeps. I am working so I give Tanvi a bath in the evenings. I am still giving her Indian style bath(Takes me an hour). Give her a oil massage and then bathe her with warm water. This might help, try it.

By the way, SK, Did you apply for OCI card? Did you get it?

My sister lives in Santa Clarita, California and I am planning to visit her next month. She is expecting her 2nd baby in may. I will be there for a week or so. May be we can meet.

Love to Yash.
