Hi all!

My daughter turned 3 months old on 2nd october. These three months has been an wonderful experiance in my life. Let me start with my experiance from first month. First half of the month passed off with her sleeping most of the time. After 15 days she started getting colicy. She used to start crying by 11.30 in the night and it used to continue upto 3.30 in the morning. Initially when she was in that phase we used to calm her by carrying her. But after 2 weeks I realized music works and calms her. Even though she was awake, she played and swayed to the music. By mid second month colic started to subside and she started smiling, playing and making sounds. I started enjoying being with her.
Till now she has been on BF. We both enjoy it. By nature she is very fast, she hardly takes 10min to finish her feed. Initially I was worried about her feeding duration, I found it baseless after adequate weight gain. When she was born she was 2.7Kgs, now by the end of 3 months she is 5.2kgs.
She sleeps for about 14hrs a day and plays a lot. As Sudha's son, she too is a fan of fan :-) She gives a big smile looking at the fan rotate. She recognises lights, fridge and few posters on the wall. On 1st of this month she rolled up and now she is trying to move forward. We all are enjoying her grow.
Till now everything has moved smoothly. Now I have to join office by Nov. I want to introduce bottle feed & solid food. I don't know how the transition will be. To look after her I have my parents, so need not worry. Please do advice what would be better, expressed milk or formula milk ? I am planning to attend office for half a day (1.30 to 5) initially. Would it be advisable to introduce solids now itself ?? Please reply.

Veena your daughter is adorable, loved her in each picture!

about your concern on joining office and bottle, the truth is if she is not used to bottle you may face troubles while introuducing her to bottle. To your surprise it might not be a big deal and she may catch up on that as well in no time or create fuss, either way it's normal. But if she can't get trained easily can be frustrating and you will need patience at that time.

you should express milk before and after work, should you plan to work all the day arrange to express during work breaks, I know many do that and it works fine. You can have her formula in between when there is no breastmilk available, but would recommend to wait for one more month if you can although ideally 2 months before giving her solids. Even when you provide solids let that be supplimentary and milk be main source until she is 1 years old.

otherwise you are great with motherhood.
Archie

Hi Veena,
Hey Lekha looks very sweet, her features are great, her hair is just similar to Advait.

I think you can keep Lekka on expressed milk as will be going to work for 5hrs only. But as an alternative keep formula also as in case you have to be late for some reason, Lekha should not be hungry. For the same you should give her formula once or twice to see her reaction and digestion. It will help you planning better.
You can even start solid(mash babana etc) by Nov as she will be 4months old as by that time. I read on this iste and othe rplaces that solids can be start given from 4th month and so.

Don't worry at all, your hubby and parents will take very good care of Lekha.

Advait rolled over yesterday on his own and push himself forward. We enjoyed it a lot. In his 1st attempt when he failed, we enjoyed that also and laughed and he got annoyed and cried like anything. See how such small children also understand.

Regards,
Sudha

Thanks for the reply and suggetions. I live in Bangalore. I want to know whitch bottle to buy for feeding the baby. I was also planning to put her on expressed milk to start with. As solid I wanted to try ragi powder.
Sudha, only for the photos we had put on those bangles & ring. Later I removed it. She is too young to manage it. Also tell me where do you do baby shopping ?

Hi Veena,

I noticed Lekha wearing golden ring, chain and bangle, was wondering if all this is not hurting her especially ring?

Hi Veena,
I am glad that colic has subsided. Even Arjun used to cry out more in initial months. Swaddling, rocking, cuddling and singing did wonders to him so didn't have too much trouble. But since last couple of days he is crying a bit, looks like he is either gassy or having his grwoth spurt. He hasn't rolled over completely but trying hard. He has started jumping on his back that way he moves forward or backward. Also when we change his diaper he lifts his lower body up. The same thing he does when I take him out of car seat or his swing as if he is helping me out. This has been happening since last couple of days along with his crying.
About nursing, I suggest you give your baby expressed milk if possible and if thats enough for the baby then hold off on formula feedings or solids for some time but again its a personal choice and whatever works best for you would be the best for your baby.
I am also returning to work next week. I haven't talked about working from home for some hours everyday with my manager but am planning to talk about it when I return. Lets see how it goes.
I am very anxious and nervous leaving my baby even though my hubby and parents will be there but still....Hope, everything will be just fine.
Pictures are real cute. Lekha is a very sweet baby. My love to her..

~Arti

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
