Due Date Club February 2008:Tips on Maternity Dressing

Hi girls,

The 5th to 7th month is so confusing when it comes to dressing. You will be small for maternity wear and can' t fit in regular clothes. For working girls it is a everyday issue while dressing. I have found a solution for this, that is working for me now.

I bought couple of skirts in larger size(try and decide how big you need) with thin waist elastic(I hate anything tight on my tummy) and wear them under the belly. Few of my regular tops still can fit me in. I bought few shirt length kurti tops which are usually little loose fitted. Now I mix and match these to work and it boosts my spirit since I' m enjoying wearing skirts and not onto maternity clothes yet.

These bigger size skirts will be useful to wear to work after delivery too until I get back to my old size(believe me, I got back to my size last time). After that I' m planning to get them altered to my size since I love these skirts now... I thought I will pass on this idea to other expectant moms. Those who are in India who doesn' t have much change in weather can very well use them for their whole pregnancy. Here in NJ with changing weather I have to wear pants in winter. I have couple of maternity pants/tops for winter from last pregnancy.

For maternity pants I prefer the under belly ones with broad elastic since they support the tummy and reduce pain while walking in the later months. Also they can be worn from 5th month until the end of pregnancy. I don' t feel comfortable in any kangaroo style pants or elastic that runs on belly. Total knit type maternity pants are also very comfortable to wear. Buy dark colors for pants(say black) so you can mix it with any color tops and will hide your size. Those who are shopping maternity clothes for the first time can keep these in mind. I thought I will share my ideas on this. Share your ideas too...

Enjoy your pregnancy and Take Care,
CK

Subject:  where to buy in US (chicago)

Hi CK,

I live in Chicago and the weather is too cold here.Could you please tell me where I can buy them. The other day, I went to Target store and was surprised to see the price of maternity pants. They ranged between 35- 40 dollars. I guess I can' t manage with skirts with the weather turning so cold in the forthcoming months.

Do you have any suggestions where I can shop for maternity pants. I don' t have any problems with finding tops.

Thanks in advance.
