Hi,

My doctor has suggested me HSG test to see if anything wrong in uterus as I had two miscarriges. I have heard its quite painfull is there anyone who has done this test..i want to know wat its like .i am really scared.

dont worry.i had got HSG done 6 months back and it is not very painful.it is just like cramping we have on the first day of the periods

Hi Sanskriti,

I took this test last week saturday.Even i was worried so much about that.HSG test is done to check if the tubes are free of obstructions.They insert a metal tube(this won' t hurt) and inject some dye into the tube.If the tubes are normal the dye will flow into the abdominal cavity.

My gynae asked me to take 2cyclopam tablets(pain killer) before leaving my house.Check with your gynae abt this.When i reached the hospital i alerady started feeling dizzy.Then they gave a sedative injection.I didn' t even feel that because the pain killers already started to work.

Then they started the procedure.After few minutes the doc said she is gonna inject the dye into the metallic tube and there will be pain.yeah there was pain.I started counting numbers and when i was counting 4 itself pain ceassed and that' s it.Then i came home and slept.So don' t worry ok.I ' ll pray for you.


Check with your gynae abt painkillers.You may expect very slight bleeding for 2 days.carry one with you.
Let me know after it is done.ok?you won' t be allowed to travel back in two wheeler.If u have a car it is ok.I took an auto.
