Hi
We are in Pune and have a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old son.
My daughter
a. Has not started not demonstrated full conversation and social skills.
b. Does not feel the need to talk and just responds to our queries/requests half-heartedly.
c. At times has a tendency to repeat the question eg “What is your name” to this she will repeat “What is your name”.. but sometimes she will answer correctly with her name.
d. At times insists on a routine in whatever she did – like getting to press the elevator button to call the lift.. same sequence of songs while playing a CD/DVD.. and throw a tantrum if refused
e. Does not mingle with other kids and prefers to stay alone…
f. Talks to herself and sometime laughs.
g. Grinds her teeth in her sleep at night and at times screams and shouts.
h. Has an exceptional memory and skills when it comes to songs. She sings very well and remembers the lyrics too.
i. Used to attend a Montessori school while we were in Canada, and picked up reading, which she does very well.
j. Does not take interest in writing, painting etc and does not like it when pushed.
k. Recently has started shouting when we brush her teeth or give her a bath

My son has started to talk a little now and we now feel this is pushing her back further. We would like to get her checked by a child psychiatrist/neurologist in Pune to check for autism.
If anyone of you could help us in this regard, we would be really grateful.

My Son Is 2 1/2 yr old...
he started saying only 2-3 word like app ...
I am staying in US so he is evaluated Under Birth to Three prgm...
But he is getting behavoiur therapy rather a Speech Thrapy......

get your kid evaluated and keep in mind that Autism is very wide term and didfferent docs can give you different diagnosis.

Have you seen any regression in her behaviour? Does she coverse? Answers questions? Are you doing any therapies?

There are lot of yahoo groups, join then. There you will get first hand information from the parents.

Good luck. Dont' feel bad if you get Autism diagnosis as its treatable and fixable. Give you kid lot of love.
