Sleeping:baby still does not sleep thru the night

Name: sheetal hi folks !! my baby is 6 & a half months and still does not sleep thru the night. he keeps waking up every 2 hrs just for a comfort feeding. how do i get rid of the habit ??? i am exhausted !! what can i feed him at night so that he sleeps thru the night ??? can someone pls help me ??

babies need milk during nights only the first 3months...as ur baby is 6 and half months old she doesnt need milk during night...moreover its not good to feed babies during nighttime...it may lead to tooth decay and even ear infections sometimes...ur baby is waking up not becoz shez hungry...its just becoz she got used to that sleeping pattern...i suggest give her some water whenever she wakes up..or try to put her to sleep which ever way u think is best..its not that easy ...u need to sacrifice ur 5-7days sleep...but i bet u can get rid of that habit.... uma replied. also his schedule of naps is not very good.

Tell me and then i can help.I have a 8 month girl and she too never slept till i made firm changes to her schedule and brought her waking ups down sunu replied. One of the reasons can be that ur baby does not sleep in full stomach at night. Give him light food ( such as boiled macshed kichdi etc.,) around 8:30 pm .. so that his stomach remains full during the night. Even i had faced the same problem and now my kid is fine. Also try not giving her feed for a night or 2 , try to pacify him by picking him in the arms and walking around for sometime. He will gradually over come this problem. pulak replied. You can mix some amount of Glucose (not the orange one) in the feeding water at night. As soon he/she cries,feed this water, no other feeding.

dear uma,
thanks a million for helping me. well he keeps feeding thru the night but i feel it is more of a comfort feed. but say if he has a feed around 8:00 in the morning then i give him juice with ceralac around 10:30 [ keeping a gap of 2.5 hrs ], after this he sometimes has my feed and takes a nap after that for half an hr. after that he has his lunch at around 1:00 or 1:30 which is may be dal with little roti or rice porridge , then again he plays for some time and after my feed he sleeps. during his nap too sometimes he wants my feed. then in the evening [ depending when he has had his last feed , keeping a gap of about 2.5 hrs ] i give him biscuits dipped in milk , then againg he has my feed till dinner time which is rice porridge or dal [ depending on what he has had for lunch ]& again my feed at night. my milk has become very less and i do not give him top milk. should i start the top feed ? pls help me change his schedule of eating & sleeping. should i increase his feeds ? pls reply to me. where do you stay ? and how old is your baby ?

thanks a ton uma for replying. well my baby gets up around 8:00 8:30 and takes a short nap for half an hr around 10:00 10:30 after which he has his massage &* bath. after this he sleeps in the afternoon for about 2 hrs roughly but this does not have a ficked time , somestimes its around 2:00 or may be even 4:00 o'clock. then he has 2 more short naps for half an hr each till 11:00 o'clock or 12:00 , after this he sleeps for the night . but exactly after 2 hrs he keeps getting up for a feed. he does not even open his eyes but just wants the feed. this goes on till 8 in the morning. pls can you help me ??? thanks in advance.

One of the reasons can be that ur baby does not sleep in full stomach at night. Your baby's problem - TRY THIS!!!!!

I faced exactly the same problem with my baby. mothers milk is very light to digest and also baby gets sleepy due to feeding. till you don't stop feeding baby, he will wake up in the night for feeding. you have to be strong for 2-3 nights and not feed baby when he wakes up. he will compensate for this hunger during the day and eventually stop waking up in the night.
