i m first time mom ..i delivered a week ago ..i jst wnted to know whthere babies really take too much time to suck milk ..i feeed her for almost 2 hrs n then also she seems to be hungry so i give her little honey water ..i can only feed her frm right side as my left nipple is flat n she is unable to suck it so i express milk frm tht breast n give her but tht too take hell lot of time jst 2 ounces a day ..plz help is it normal mom replied. My son was also like this.... It was so tiring initially, guess body takes sometime to produce more milk. My dr. told me that I had to give him my milk only & nothing else. He also told me that as the baby sucks, body accordingly produces more milk. So hang in there, gradually the duration for which he will take feed will reduce. Also regarding the problem with left nipple, apart from breast pump you could try nipple shield as well. Also the baby is currently learning how to take feed, so after few days try to give her feed from left side as well, who knows she will be able to latch... Use a breast pump to express milk. You will got more quantity. Am eclectic one would be ideal and more comfortable. You will get it in baby shops.
