Is meditation part of your daily routine? What procedure do you follow when you meditate? How had meditation helped you in your daily life?
Rita replied. Listen folks,
Try positive daydreaming, if you ever find meditation very difficult or if you' re ever distracted.
Believe it or not, daydream is stepping stone to learning yoga, creative visualization, etc. What' s so good about positive daydreaming? You may ask.
Moreover, daydreams help to heighten all your five senses, heighten your intuitional feelings, pull your mind' s muscles, enhance your health, increase your IQ, etc. Use positive daydreaming with studies. See how it works on your memory bank.
Daydreams too increase your chances of entering trances (if you ever want to enter Alpha, the light kind of trance, that is). Alpha is sometimes difficult to achieve in formal meditation especially with ongoing distractions in the background or in mind, whatever they may be.
Try daydreaming ever BEFORE you do any yoga or meditation. Daydreams help you to achieve calmness of mind.
For exercises,
1. try daydreaming plain colours on your mental screen, making each colour as and strong and vivid as possible. Visualize many nuances of blues, yellows, reds, etc. Make them bright, dark, vivid, dull, and so on.
2. Next think of varied textures in any desired colour: lumps, canvas, cloth, sand, etc.
3. Now try thinking of paints in varied mediums: watercolours, acrylics, etc. Mix your mental colours. For more advanced daydreaming techniques, try thinking of plants, sky, river, lakes, winds, sounds, etc.
Priya replied. I think that it is important to learn meditation. We should have meditation classes in school itself for children. Then, when they become adults, it will be better for them only. They will be able to deal with pressures much better. My son’s school has a yoga period every day for half an hour. The kids are very young to understand this but I guess as they reach higher classes meditation can be beneficial for coping with studies. It is a nice habit to impart when they are young and important in the fast lives that we are living
Mansi replied. It is a good idea to meditate while doing yoga. The asanas help us to focus on our breathing while we meditate. Then we can clear the mind and become one with the universe. But it all comes with daily practice. Do not expect that from the day you begin you will connect with the cosmos. Do not be very goal oriented. Give yourself time and go easy. All you have to do is relax. Meditating may be difficult at first but you will learn slowly. Watch videos on meditation, listen to audio, read books and you will get better at meditating.
Shridhar replied. I have been meditating for almost a year now and I still find it difficult sometimes. The most difficult part is to make sure that your mind is completely free of all thoughts. I often find myself drifting off in the middle of my meditation sessions and then get distracted. I do not know hoe do I handle this. I get very uneasy and some or the other thought just keeps crossing my mind.

Name: Rachit Subject: you can not force mind to get calm
Before Meditating you have to understand nature of Mind . Mind is a bundle of thoughts which always remain in future or Pat . Present state is not nature of Mind . It is true inner glamor or happiness can only be attain only in thoughtless state but to force Mind to get calm or deviate Mind with positive thoughts is not the solution .
By doing any sort of imagination or concentration .you can only suppress thoughts for some time but do not remove it from your heart .
To remove thoughts from your mind you just need to watch them .Let them go wherever they are going . Do not go along with them . Just let them go .While meditating thoughts will come and go but you feel really better after meditating process .

Shridhar, I too get distractions, but I simply deal with them or ignore them.
If you have negative thoughts persistently creeping into your mind, just BRIDGE all your negative thoughts over to the positive ones.
For example, you might have a negative thought such as " I look awful with extra pounds. I hate my body." Stop meditating and immediately tackle that thought with a positive one: " Anyway, I can always lose a few pounds. No matter however much I weigh, I always look fabulous." Spend your time on the practice of bridging your thoughts. In time, you´ ll see less and less of your distractions. Try it and you´ ll see.
BEFORE you ever do any meditation, try daydreaming with your eyes opened/half-opened. Daydreams put you in Alpha trance (the light kind practised in meditation/yoga). Just daydream anything - whatever makes you feel positive and calm.
For exercises, daydream plain colours on your mental screen, making each colour as vivid as possible. Think nuances of blues, yellows, reds, etc. Now think of textures: lumps, canvas, cloth, sand, etc. Also, try thinking of paints in varied mediums: watercolours, acrylics, etc. For more advanced daydreaming techniques, try thinking of plants, sky, river, lakes, winds, sounds, etc. Rule: always think POSITIVE and positive follows.
If you find this very interesting, do research online on creative visualization. My favourite website is successconsciousness. The forums there are hugely interesting. You find LOADS of suggestions and tips on meditation. You really can´ t afford to miss this one. Go to its forums in the column at the top right-hand corner.
Best of luck with meditating.
