Due Date Club November 2003:Travel systems- opinion

Hi! Girls!
Thanks for ur input on the travel systems. Our search narrowed to 2 and I am just writing my my opinion on some of these Graco travel systems which we considered.
1.MetroLite Travel System with LATCH (wt. 16 lbs)
Disadvantage: can't reach the basket underneath if seat is flat.
Advantage: very lite and has almost all the features.

2.Quattro Tour Travel System with LATCH(wt. 28lbs)
Disadvantage: very heavy, heavier than all the other models
Advantage: Has all the really good features

3.Sterling Travel System with LATCH(wt. 21 lbs)
Disadvantage: food tray scratches everytime u fold it
Advantage: Almost have all the features and weight is somewhat OK

4.Chauffeur Travel System with LATCH(wt.~25lbs)
Disadvantage: Lot of people complain it makes baby sweat(b'coz of cloth thickness) and it's good for people living in North. Since we live in florida, we are eliminating this option. It does not come with the plastic handle which holds the car seat( I guess we have to order it calling Graco )
Advantage: it has also have a lot of good features.

Girls, we are stuck between two options(1&2)
MetroLite Travel System and Quattro Tour Travel System
If anybody know anykind of negatives with these 2 options, or any positives with the other options, Please let me know.

Quattro is really good except the weight.
If me and my husband are going out, then weight is not a problem. B'coz I can peacefully leave all the work on my husband. If I am alone taking the baby out, then weight is a bit of concern.

Hetal, which one in graco did u buy?
arshiya, even i liked the Quattro for all it's features but I am only concerned about weight.
Avi, have u decided on which graco travelsystem to buy?
Ruchika and ashra, thanks for ur input.

If anyone of u want to suggest any other travel system please do so with out any hesitation.

If anyone of u disagree with my opinion on the above travel systems, don't hesitate to write ur opinion as it will make my decision easier.

take care,
Suma

Hey Suma, I myself like the Quattro.. cause I feel that the metrolite system maybe too light and I wont be too comfortable putting the baby in a very light system.. In my opinion, a little bit of weight is good cause then it will be a stable and a sturdy system..
but as this is my first time.. I could be wrong ..as Ruchika mentioned the Clarion could also be a good option.. aaaaahhhhh .. How does one choose :)

Hi Suma,
You are right about good features on Quattro and Metrolite. I had tough time deciding between two also. But, just like I was telling Ashra that when you fold Quattro it sits on four wheels on all four sides, not all four wheels on one side, which makes it easier to carry and also it doesn't slam on the floor while folding. Another thing, I am very picky on things padding or tray touching the road while baby is gonna sit on it, it might get dirty over the time.
One more good thing about Quattro is, it has aluminium frame while metrolite and other graco's don't. They are all plastic or something else. I fell into Quattro cuz of the aluminium frame which makes it sturdy and won't easily topover.
These are the reason, I had decided to carry more weight then metrolite. In my opinion, baby's safety was first concern than me carrying the weight.

Hi! Arshiya!
Thanks for ur input. I am also very much attracted to the quattro model for all it's convenient features (just except the weight). I did not observe the 4 wheels sitting on all four sides when folded. I will check this next time I visit the store.

Hi guys,
I know most of you are looking into the complete travel systems. I checked them out at the local stores, and actually found all of them quite bulky ( of course this could be a me-specific problem, since I am a small person). So we have decided to do this : get an infant car seat and a MacLaren stroller ...these work separately. I'll also buy the Universal car seat frame stroller. It works out the same money-wise, and since the components are independent, they are far easier to get in and out of the car. The Maclaren stoller is small enough to take on the aicrafts).

Hi! Priya!
Sounds like a good paln. We were also thinking about such kind of option. Since Stroller we will use it atlest for 2-3 years, it is better to have a good one. especially a lite weight one. Next time I go to babiesrus, I will check this Maclaren stroller. Lets see which one we like. Thanks for ur input.

Hi Suma

I am in the same boat as u are. I have been reading customer reviews online and have also been to BabiesRUs twice only to look at travel systems.

These are the 2 I have narrowed down to. At first I thought the Quattro Tour was the best as it has all features - easy open, nice looking and accessible basket. But the sales lady also recommended Metrolite since it was a lighter version. The only problem with Metrolite as you said - the accesibility of the basket when the car seat is on it.

I saw someone using the Chauffer system and though it has the carriage feature(nice!!) I thought it was too bulky for me.

Will probaby end up getting Quattro or the Metrolite.

Ruchika, about the Clarion system, the stroller has only 2 positions - fully reclined or straight up. I am looking for some more positions in between.

This is just based off my research and it would be great to hear what other Moms-to-be have decided on the travel systems.

Happy shopping everyone.
Jaya

Hey suma,
You did not consider CLarion by Graco.
It is lightest(21lbs) stroller wt. and has all the good featres. Let me know why you did not consider that one.

thanks
Ruchika

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
