hi all
some doubts for moms here:
1.are there any vegetables that we need to avoid in postpartum diet? i heard that cabage, cauliflower is not good as these cause gas problems?
2. how to increase milk supply? what are the things that we need to eat more?
3.seb is having baby acne on his face. anyone having similar problems? what do u do for that?

Hi tina:

Its always better to avoid root vegs as it creates gas problem. Try to keep ur body warm always by having vegs and other stuff which will increase the body temperature. Now a days iam having only hot water which is good and after lunch my mom gives me pan leaves which helps in digestion. I read in a book that eating garlic makes the milk more tasty and so baby drinks more milk.
Hope the above tips help..
take care
priya.

Subject:  my mom in law put me on this diet

hi moms

being a first time mom i also dont have much experience on this but since my mother in law is here this is what i am allowed.
i am having rice(or meals)only for lunch.vegetables i am allowed are little gourd, ridge gourd, snake gourd, ladys fingers and all green leafy vegetables only.even dal is not allowed as it creates gas it seems.no root veg like potato, sweet potato, carrot, yam etc also.
however when she prepares dal for my husband and herself she adds more water and lightly seasons that cooked dal water for me.rasam is allowed.
all fruits are allowed.
bread is good it seems.no wonder they call it convalescence food.
for dinner i take rusks and milk only.
non veg is also allowed and whatever u eat it must be bland and less spicy.
drink lots of milk(500 ml daily)and more important more fluids as this helps milk production.
this diet will be continued for 3 months for me.
hope this helps
take care all of u
luv to ur little ones
bhargavi

Hi Tina,

I heard suji kheer, and raagi floor kheer are good for milk supply. Even methi leaves and seeds are good for milk supply.
About vegitables potato, cabbage, egg plant and cauliflower are creat gases.
Eat lots of methi, spinach. they have good sources of iron and less gases problems.
Take lots of fluids.
I donnt know about acne.
