Hi all:
Thank youk so much for all your wishes and prayers. Thanks Jenn for posting the message on Advika's arrival.
Advi is sleeping now so I thought I feel steal a couple of minutes to check our grp and share with you all my birth experience.
It all started on sunday 18th morning when my mucus plug came off. The night before I was having some slight crampy feeling but not anything we feel concerned as it only felt like tightening of muscles. Anyway after the bloody show we went to the hospital and had fetal monitoring and dilation check up. I was only 1 cm so they send me back home.
Later that evening as we had a some guest at home I wasnt aware of the slight contractions I was feeling till they all left. Anyway by 7:30 - 8 in the eve I could feel that something is going to start :-)
By night the contractions became more intense and so we couldnt sleep. After a warm shower we left for the hospital around 3 am. After reaching the hospital they checked my dilation and then it was only 2 cms. But with my husbands request, who was timing my contractions, they kept me on monitor for an hour and then in that time my contractions restarted and I was 5 cms dilated in next 1 - 1 and half hrs time. We tried the massages and abdominal breathing exercises taught by our bradley tutor and it helped me a lot to cope through the contractions. By 9 I was reaching the transition stage and so the contractions were more close and hard. Then as I went to use the restroom I threw-up and my water also broke. The contractions and pain was getting hard but when the doc checked me after this I was 8 cm dilated and baby positioned and so she encouraged us and told us to get ready to welcome our new addition :-) It was such a nice moment and that words gave me the power to go through the last stages of labor and delivery with a renewed confidence. I had an episiotomy and it wasnt painful. With 5 set of pushes (3 pushes a set) our precious darling was out :-)
We are back at home now and as I had a normal and mostly medication free birth I am not having any body pain, back aches etc so far. Now we are the stage of getting used to the new cycle of life with advika to take care of and learn the task of breast feeding :-)
Good Luck to all the waiting moms... I assure you its wait every single sacrifices we make at this stage and all the pain we have to go through.
Take care!!!!
