Dear Friends,
I am in my 7th month now and staying in UAE away from my family. I and my husband are very keen on having the goud bharai function as per Maharashtrain traditions. Can any one please let me know what is the traditional maharashtrain way of doing the goud bharai function. I have few good friends here who will be happy to do this function for me but i need to know what all will be required for the function and what is the correct way to do it. If any of you have already had this function recently i would be glad if your' ll could share the information. Thank you..

Wow... Its basically to pamper yourself... You need 5 women( married) who will need to fill your \" Auti\" coconut and rice... I assume you are maharshtrian... and then they will tell you to take\" naav ghene\" .. Then you can have a small pooja... by Pooja just choti si pooja and then there should be \" nevedya\" kept to God... and then the ladies ... should keep two katoris\" one with barfi and one with pedha... they wil tell you to open one.. If you open pedha it will be a son and if barfi...it will be girl.. Ofcourse this is just a prank played.. nothing specific about it.. Then ( I dont know wheter you get it in Dubai).. you need to have a crown of flowers on your hair( mukut) ani click snaps on the swing with a Dhanusha Baan( Bow and Arrow) and a pardi ( Bukcet of flowers ) ect... Thats what i remember during my time
