hi...

Can anyone help me with info on dosage of Metformin? my GYN prescribed 1500mg per day for me, morning, afternoon and night but it' s causing a lot of gastric problems, nausea and fatigue. I can' t even sit straight. I feel like I' m going to collapse. PLEASE HELP!

Hey

Take it half an hour before food(check with ur doc).Have some decent meal.Take good quantity of water.If u have gastric trouble, add a pinch of hing to 1 cup of luke warm water and drink.It helps sometimes.

I take 1500mg extended release Metformin as well.My doctor asked me to start with one 500mg tab for one week,then two for another and then three.I had a lot of gastric problems in the beginning.But they have settled down now.One thing that could help is take it at night right after dinner.Hope that helps.

are u by any chance overweight? the doc also prescribed for me metformin as i was overweight...he said one side effect is that u reduce weight...but the six months that i was on this treatment was extremely bad..i also experienced a lot of gastric problems and nausea...there was one instance wherein i went for an abdomen scan and the doc said he could not see anything as my abdomen was full of gas...

one suggestion drink a lot of liquids it helps in reducing gas a bit.. walk around a lot dont sit too much it increases if u sit for long ....

Subject:  Slow release Metformin



The extended release metformin (1000mg a day) is much, much better as far as side effects go. Consult your doc before taking or changing anything.Just make sure to take it with a meal and you should be fine.
