Health Concerns:Cane sugar

Hi Archie,
People say that during pregnancy cane sugar is better than the normal white sugar. Is it true? Is cane sugar (brown in color) safe? Will taking 2 spoons of it (instead of white sugar) daily affect my blood sugar?

Dear Mom to be,
Cane sugar is of course best than white sugar. I however don't think white sugar will affect your baby! If possible buy cane sugar, it can be granular white to brown in color, depends on purity level, either of them are good.

No, intake of sugar as 2 spoons a day won't affect your blood sugar. You are asking about Gestational diabetes. This is least to do with your sugar intake, sometime it's possible but not always. It's about Insulin being produced in sufficient amount or not. This is again exist only in the pregancny period and after that you and baby will be fine. Don't worry for the aspects ahead of time, not too good for your baby.

Good luck
Archie
