Name: Tanya
dear archie n everyone else,
I'm in my 8th week, kindly guide me on the following:-
1. everyone says not to bend down to pick up things etc, at times it is not avoidable- how dangerous is it to bend down.
2. Is there a position to use during pregnancy if required to bend?
3. Is it ok to squat?
4. Is it ok to sit down on the floor etc?
Kindly advise, thanx in advance for all your replies.

purnima replied. hey,
i m frm the mar'07 group.
nothin wrong in bendin unless ur gyn told u to be careful!!
in the third trimester, ur tummy is so big, wen u bend, it hangs and that gives u back aches!!
so they ask u to squat and pick things up. u can do this even nw, so that u get used to it.
only thing u should not do (in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters) is hmm.. like moppin the floor, u know, where ur tummy is squashed? tahts not good..ur thighs and knees will pres on ur stomach.
i bent, did all the household work, washed the tub, toilet, went behind desktop, tv to connect all wires (we moved, so i hd to unpack everythin and stack up)etc etc and i m prefectly fine!! i m in 33 wks nw! so dont worry.. bendin only gives u backache, baby is not hurt.
again, i ask u to chk with ur doc, ok?
(mine told me play tennis if i wanted!!) ;)
good luck!
oh, btw, try not to sit in sofas that sink.. its very difficut to get up once u hv put on weight!! imagine going to dinner at smone's place and askin ur husband to pull u up, off the sofa!! pretty funny!!
