Due Date Club April 2007:why I am I depressed ?

Hi everyone. I am glad and relieved to see a forum like this. My EDD is 10th april 07. I suffer from minor hypothyroidism which is under control. General saying is that the expectant mother should be very happy ,calm during pregnancy, listen to good music and read good books. However I have been feeling very sad, emotional (cry easily) ,lonely and depressed. My husband and I live alone and unfortunately dont have a good support system in terms of friends or relatives. I am worried because though I know that my depression is affecting the baby negatively , I am unable to do anything about it. Any sincere advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mona,

Great to know that you are feeling cheerful. Keep it going.

I live with my husband at Preet Vihar but I've moved to my parents place at Gwalior. I'll be staying here till my delivery.

All the best!

hi mona - my due date is april 12. actually even my husband is abroad for the past 3 months. its the attitude of us that matters. unless u change and divert ur attention to something pleasant and interesting no one can do anything. come on - let me tell u onething - everyone has problems da.

its how we look into the same. listen to soft music. read books of ur interest. ret to increase ur friends circle. come out of the shell. first of all - feel that u r energetic and enthusiastic. spend time in talking to the kid everyday saying that u both r going to have happy times very soon and life will become more interesting once u r born.

if u feel dull -get out of that place - watch interestingmovies ya - there are more things in life to cherish about - so come out of ur depressed feeling - u have a great future ahead - i am very sure about it.

all the best ya.

Hi,
Don't worry. I am also in same position like u , All the time i am alone in the home , i also started feeling like depressive, so i started making some new hobbies, stiching some thing on old sarees and make them new model , painting. And restarted my old hobbies which i use to do in college days like recording songs to make new songs collections, watching baby related videos from library. In public libraries there will be lot baby related videos in children section in US. Where do u live? plz don't feel depressed , keep ur self busy with something.

Rani

Hi Mona,

This is Mamta from the March 07 board.
I can understand the emotions you are going through since I also stay alone with my husband here in Delhi.

All I can say is that it sometimes gets a bit tough when you are alone. Try to stay relaxed and happy for the little one growing inside you. You can engage yourself in some activity that could possibly keep you a little busy.

You can listen to classical intrumental music to relax yourself. Some of the titles I can recommend are:

White- Rahul Sharma,

Call of the Valley- Shivkumar Sharma, Hari Prasad Chaurasia,

Garbh Sanskar- Dr. Balaji Tambe,

Chants of India- Ravi Shankar,

Destiny: Call of the divine- Rakesh Churasia,

Himalayan Chants- Ashit Desai,

Time Traveller- Rahul Sharma.

When you are alone, you can also communicate with your little one. It will definitely make you feel good.

BTW, where are you staying, Mona?

I wish you all the best and stay connected.

Take care. All the best!

Mamta.
