Crying & Colic:Crying

I've had a baby girl on 10th July 2003 and she doesn't seem to settle with me. When ever she cries (no fixed time during the day)I try and comfort her but nothing works. I give her to my Mother in law and she settle almost straight away. On many occasions when we have been sleeping and Mother in law has come in to check and spoke a few words and then left. As soon as Mother in law has left the room my baby starts crying. I currently feel like I'm a bad mother or even worse not her mother right now... HELP..!!

Dear Sejal,

Hey girl, don't feel bad and sad about it. Your daughter is 1.5 months old and after delivery our body is weak so we sometime can't do things well. But everything is going to be fine and very soon your darling daughter will respond you very positively. I agree with Rakhi and Anila that this is just a passing phase and you will get over it very soon. Touch and talk really do magic. Just give soft and soothing touch to your baby, talk with her, sing for her and sing regularly so that she get used to it. Kiss her a lot, hug her a lot, and tell her you love her and really cares for her she is safe in your hand. Don't hesitate to talk as even if we feel kids don't understand any thing but infect they do understand each touch, word and feeling. Even when she is not crying hold her in your hand and play a little make different noise and just love her. She will respond you soon. So don't worry and relaxed and try it out.

Give my love to her
Take care
Love
Dharmi

Dear Sajel,

Cool it mom! Have patience...nothing wrong with u dear! It's just that u r new to this, and mom in law dear had babies before u...once u r grandmom, u'll be very wonderful too,and perhaps ur DIL will get the feelings as u r having now!!! It's just that u'lll need to learn, and she's done that already.

Don't be guilty, try to talk to ur baby, it is awkward at first, but once u used to it, u and ur baby will really enjoy! Hold her , Bathe her, Massage her...be close to her...and talk to her..talk and touch- theseare two magical things that will take out all that guit from u mommie..

ALL THE BEST!!!

Give a hug to ur kidu from my side too---Love,
Anila

Hi Sajel,

I assume this is your first baby. I had the same problem with my baby boy last year. These are just the initial problems. Obviously your MIL has several years of experience behind her and knows very well how to handle babies. Dont wory this is just a passing phase and you will definitely get over this. The baby doesnt understand whether we are good mothers or bad. So take it in your stride and things will settle down soon. Yours will be the best face and touch your baby will know in the big bad world.

Best of luck,

Rakhi
