How long are you planning to take off ?(I guess this is relevant for the working moms). I am planning on 3 months. Mom will be here till March, so In guess we'll put the baby in child care after that. I often wonder what life will be like at work, after the baby comes.

I have applied for FMLA. This gives me a total of 12 weeks. I have no tapplied for California disability insurance. Can you give me some info on it? I filled out the form a couple of weeks ago. The health care provider also signed on it. You have to fill in the tentative dates of leave, which, of course is subject to change, shouldI deliver early. It did'nt seem too complicated.

I have some questions for you. Are you applying for short-term disability leave? I just heard from my co-worker that if I need to use it, the leave needs to start four weeks before delivery. In that case, I might have to rethink about my leave. Are you using the California Disability insurance as well. I am not sure what it is, but my HR manager said I was eligible for that.

Have you already applied for your leave? They've asked me to fill a form and get a note from the doctor. My next appointment is on Oct 3rd.

I've asked too many questions, so answer them whenever you have time.

I am due at the end of Nov, so my leave would start two weeks before that. I'll be back at work on 1st of Feb. This holds good only if I feel perfectly healthy. Otherwise, I might start my leave even before that. In my case, I am not sure if my m-i-l would be able to come or not.

About life at work once the baby arrives, I've been unable to concentrate at work since I found out I was pregnant. I guess it's extremely exciting for first-timers. Fortunately, I go home for lunch. I'll have an extended lunch schedule once she arrives :)

Having a get-together would be great. I am all in for it. I guess January would be good time.

Well, next Tuesday is my last day off work here period...I have a semester of school left to finish so in January I will go back to school and then find another job after I graduate in May.. :)

It will surely feel wierd not working and not getting that monthly pay check.. :(
but hey I will, if everything goes well, have a little baby boy who will surely take my mind off of pay checks :)

My mom is planning to stay with me till March/April too and after that we have to figure our another childcare option atleast till May.. am a bit worried about that..(hopefully I will have evening classes or some schedule that would allow one of us to be home while the other is away)...we'll see..

You are right, we should all have a Bay Area Nov mom get togther...others a welcome too if you want to visit sunny California :)
