Due Date Club January 2006:Archie n others..a few queries+updates

Hey Archie n frenz

Yesterday I had another check up in the 38th week. My lil one inside is still in the transverse position. We registered for a C-section, just in case. Its 3 days prior to my due date .. that means its exactly 10 days from now :-)

I feel absolutely normal now .. no signs of anything..that says my due date is near. Except for minor discomfort in my pubic bone area and am feeling of heaviness from a couple of weeks... Am Fine!!

* I have a few queries however:

1. As the baby is breeched..i guess now there wudnt be any lightening either?! So .. will i have the regular contractions/ water break kinda stuff .. ?

2. Also, for these kinda breeched cases .. are there chances i go into labor prior to the c-section date?

3. From a couple of days .. i have been having some stomach aches occassionally. The pain is not very intense though. If its related to gas/diet .. would that make my baby colic?

4. Which is more advisable for a C-section.. local or general anesthesia?

5. I havent still checked with the doc yet.. but what are the different kinds of stitches for a surgery like C ..? I know there are dissolvable ones.. some are removable.. which one do u recommend?

Thanks once again for all the help. Take care!

Hi Shanti,

Now the baby will remain in breech position as this is ur 38th week,no chances of turning i think so.As my doc told me tht after 36th week the baby hardly change his position.
Did u hear abt external version,i don't have any perfect knowledge but still talk to ur doctor abt this.

Anyway don't worry,it's more imp tht our babies shld be fine n healthy.I can understand ur tension as i'm too scared abt C-section.
My baby is in head down position but still don't no wht'll happen at the time of delivery.

Do u having anybody from India for the delivery? It would be of a gr8 help for u.

so after 10 days u'll be holding ur little one in ur hands, wht a precious moment tht'll be.......right...

Huh,waiting for tht moment too....
take care

you can experience water break as well as contractions, baby position would stop you experiencing them.

2. Also, for these kinda breeched cases .. are there chances i go into labor prior to the c-section date?

yes you may get in to labor prior or after edd with breech baby. It's different the labor would end up in operation theatre than a routine delivery room.

3. From a couple of days .. i have been having some stomach aches occassionally. The pain is not very intense though. If its related to gas/diet .. would that make my baby colic?

no, it won't make baby colic.

4. Which is more advisable for a C-section.. local or general anesthesia?

In these days with state-of-art facilities a local anesthecia is common.

5. I havent still checked with the doc yet.. but what are the different kinds of stitches for a surgery like C ..? I know there are dissolvable ones.. some are removable.. which one do u recommend?

you don't choose type of stitches, you OB will do that and you won't need to discuss that either. However in USA now a days you get cosmetic stitches. It's internal and expected that if healed and done perfect you may not see them after 2-3 months, amazing isn't it. But I don't know where you are and what is choice of your OB. I would suggest not to discuss this as this is solitarily choice of OB with his/her comfort.

Hi

Thanks for taking time and answering my queries. I have 5 days more to go. Am more excited.. but a lil tensed. I have one more final visit to the doc in a couple of days , to re confrim things. I'll let u know all abt it after that.

Am a lil apprehensive abt how my lil one inside is .. to b honest. He has been fairly an active kid thru out.. i can tell it by the movements. But still some kinda fear inside keeps me from getting too excited. I just pray God..for a healthy baby!!

Sorry for being so senti :-) thanks once again.

Have any of you pierced your baby´ s ears?
Have any of you pierced your baby' s ears? Where did you get it done? Were you able to change the earrings after the piercing and put on indian ear rings? My pediatrician does not do it, and she suggested that i take tanvi to the mall. Pls share your experiences at the mall if you' ve had any.

Ear piercing
My daughter was 5 months old when we decided to get her ear pierced. The non medical ear piercing options are painful and unsafe with possibilities of hepatitis, viruses and even HIV and I can never recommend it. My husband and I were looking for a safe, modern, gun shot piercing option which is completely safe, pain-free and with a traditional touch as well.
