Due Date Club January 2006:Post partum diet

Hi

Does anyone know if Ensure is good/safe to take after delivery. Not sure of the impact on the child (we are worried about colic and loose motion)

Not sure if the indian diet recommended post partum contains enough protein and other key nutrients.

We plan on asking our paediatrician but will appreciate if anyone knows this already.

Cheers

There are some things people in India say u should avoid during pregnancy -
Like \";Rajma\";, \";Chole\";, \";Kaali Dal\"; because they r heavy ! Whenever I had any of these during my last pregnancy - aarya would vomit - and they also say u should avoid vegetables that produce a lot of gas like cauliflower - babies sometimes do not like it if their mom has had garlic.
My mom told me that having \";Jeera\"; in any form - powder or otherwise helps in increasing breast milk.
Hope this helps !

Hi KP

Am in 38th week too. I was allergic to Ensure from the beginning of my pregnancy. Ensure is definitely a healthy drink .. so there shudnt b a problem! But yea, its a good idea to check with the Pediatrician once.

A friend of mine says, Milk and Bread are the key things for a good production of milk after the delivery. U can check with ur mom n grand mom .. they sure will know abt some special diets for women after the delivery. My mom says .. a diet that involves less spicy food and avoids starchy veggies like potato .. is good.

Many of my frenz asked me not to discontinue taking my prenatal vitamins even after delivery. Those vitamins contain the required amounts of everything.

Also, if u think ur baby is not taking it too well...just because of certain thing in ur diet.. u can always stop taking it. So i guess after a lil bit of experimenting.. we all eventually will know wut our babies like :-)

If u or anybody has more information on this...do post it and i'll do the same!!

Take care!!

Have any of you pierced your baby´ s ears?
Have any of you pierced your baby' s ears? Where did you get it done? Were you able to change the earrings after the piercing and put on indian ear rings? My pediatrician does not do it, and she suggested that i take tanvi to the mall. Pls share your experiences at the mall if you' ve had any.

Ear piercing
My daughter was 5 months old when we decided to get her ear pierced. The non medical ear piercing options are painful and unsafe with possibilities of hepatitis, viruses and even HIV and I can never recommend it. My husband and I were looking for a safe, modern, gun shot piercing option which is completely safe, pain-free and with a traditional touch as well.
