my son is 5 and a half months old now..i want to start top milk... is it better to start with formula milk or cow' milk... can BM also be given with FM . which one is good lactogen or Nan1.. are there any side effects if FM is given..how will one know whether it' s suiting him or not.. Hi, as far as i know its always better to avoid FM at any stage.you may use them for emergencies, definitely not on a regular basis.you can directly start him on solids as he is 5.5 months old, you can give boiled apples, potatoes, banana, rice,ragi porridge,etc.start one food at a time, try for a week and then introduce another..initially give him just once a day and then you may increase the feeds..also you should not give cow' s milk until he is a year old.
