Hi,

I had my 34th wk appointment yesterday. Doc did a group B streptococcus test and checked baby's hearbeats & position. So far things are looking ok and I will be getting the result of the grp B test on my next visit in a week.

Is any of you considering a medication free birth experience? Like if there is no sign of fetal distress are you planning a complete natural birth experience without help from any sort of intervensions? Yesterday when I talked to my doc abt this she was very supportive and also recommended me to meet their midwife also on my next visit as she said they r very good in massaging and helps the moms with natural pain relief techniques.

Pls do share if u have any preferences for your birth experience.

hi mansi, thanks for bringing this up since it has been on my mind as well.
i would prefer natural but everybody i talk to have asked for epidural and they are really recommending me to take it.
the 2 options as i know is to either go for epidural or a drug like demerol right?. off the 2 i think i am leaning towards epidural. but I really hope I dont have to use either. I will check with my doctor as well what kind of natural techiniques they would use.

Selvi,

Other than my sis I dont have any friends who had chosen natural birth over an epidural. Even my sis had taken a local anesthasia which is common in India though she said NO to epidural when it was offered.

Some of my friends who took epidural told me if I can its better to go non medicated as they had to experience probs bcos of it like baby's heart beat dropping, medicine not effecting them etc. The class we r going for is a natural birth recommended Bradley style. From there too they tell us the side effects of pain medications during labor thats why I wanted to give unmedicated birth a try. Dont know how succesful I will be but just feel like going for it... my husband is also very supportive of my decision so he is also doing his part by learning how to do the massages that will be helpful at that time.

Its only 6 more weeks now so with gods grace lets hope things will turn out just the way we all want it to be.
