Dear All,

Yesterday, I have been for my monthly check-up and noticed a weight gain of total 2.5kgs (5.6lbs) in the last one month.

So far, I have gained about 8.5 kgs (19LBS). And I'm now worried :( This is my 27th week as per the date and 25th week as per my Ultra sound reports. I'm gonna be through with my second trimester within 2-3 weeks. I have read somewhere on the net that most of your weight gain happens during 2nd trimester (around 50%) and in 1st & 3rd Trimester (around 25% each) But still I'm feeling scared as I have heard that during last weeks of your pregnancy, you gain weight every week.

Can anybody suggest what exactly is the weight gain ratio ????? May be the second-time moms would be in a better position to say out of their own experience.

Actually, I'm shocked to see my weight gain in the last 2 months as I'm just having 1 glass of milk in the morning with 2 rusks & 4-5 almonds (soaked overnight), then in the breakfast I take 2 slices of bread with egg, in lunch I get 1 chappati only or rice with Dal, Sabji & Curd. Then at 4:00pm I take one orange or any otehr fruit and in the evening I take a glass of milk again with 2-3 biscuits Or mixture. At last in dinner I again take one chappati, Dal, Sabji, Curd, Salad & Fruits (Papaya...) Do you see anything strange or excess in the diet ??? If yes, please let me know how can I improve upon it. And yes, Once in a week I have some junk food Or dinner outside.

I too had my checkup last week and found that I have put on about 6/7 pounds in the last one month. I am in my 28th week now and my total weight gain so far is 17 pounds. I asked my doctor about my concern on my weight gain and she said that I am doing perfectly fine. It's the time you put on weight it seems (nearing your 3rd trimster!). So I was feeling better after hearing that and eating good!!.
Your diet sounds wonderful, in fact I feel after reading your message that I am eating a lot! : ) I don't know, these days I am feeling hungry and I am eating nicely, you know.

Anyway, don't worry too much about your weight gain unless your Doctor specifically says anything about it. Stay cool.

I read on the net somewhere that during 26th week, your weight gain should be between, 16.5 - 23 lbs and at your 28th week, the range is 18.25 - 25. According to this chart, I think we are doing pretty good. So, Enjoy every moment.
